Community Engagement

Neighborhood Prosecutors

A team of five Assistant District Attorneys cover the City’s ten police districts as part of our Neighborhood Prosecutors Program.Due to the diverse public safety problems faced by our many neighborhoods, these prosecutors take a hands on approach to solving many of the issues that most affect a particular community’s quality of life and do not necessarily translate to high-profile cases and jury trials. Neighborhood Justice Fund Grant Program

Neighborhood Courts are a community-based approach to improving the quality, safety and cohesion of each district through restorative justice methods. Rather than pursuing traditional criminal case processing, the District Attorney’s Office (SFDA) refers appropriate misdemeanor cases to one of ten Neighborhood Courts throughout San Francisco. Community Advisory Boards

Six advisory groups advise District Attorney George Gascón on public safety issues. Members of these advisory groups consist of stakeholders from the neighborhoods, merchants, businesses, community-based organizations and residents who meet quarterly to create public safety solutions.  Each group identifies key policy areas to be investigated for action. Over thirty meetings have been conducted over the past year resulting in significant achievements and partnerships.  For more information, click here.
