Man Charged in Buena Vista Park Murder

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – District Attorney George Gascón announced today that David Muñoz Diaz has been charged for the murder of Freddy Roberto Canul Arguello.

On July 26, 2011 Diaz was charged with one felony count of murder in violation of California Penal Code section 187, one felony count of robbery in violation of California Penal Code section 212.5(c), one felony count of arson of a recycling bin in violation of California Penal Code section 451 (d), and one felony count of mutilating/maiming/disfiguring a body in violation of Health and Safety Code section 7052. The defendant is also charged with one misdemeanor count of destruction of evidence in violation of California Penal Code section 135.

According to court documents, on June 10, 2011, defendant Diaz is alleged to have murdered Freddy Roberto Canul Arguello in Buena Vista Park. Defendant Diaz is scheduled to appear for arraignment in San Francisco Superior Court on Wednesday, July 27, 2011. The Department and time are still be determined.

The arrest of David Muñoz Diaz is the result of the investigation led by San Francisco Police Inspector Dedet. Harry Dorfman is the Assistant District Attorney currently handling the prosecution of this case.
