Two Arrested in Sophisticated Scheme of Grand Theft From San Francisco Transportation Company
SAN FRANCISCO – Today, District Attorney George Gascón announced that Rami Karadshe, age 38, of Concord, CA, and Fadi Stephan, age 41, of South San Francisco, CA, were arrested on charges arising out of the alleged theft of over $250,000 from their employer, Bauer’s Intelligent Transportation, a San Francisco company which provides shuttle and other transportation services.
“These individuals were bilking their employer for hundreds of thousands of dollars,” said District Attorney George Gascón. “Taking money from an employer, whether big or small, is fraudulent, it is theft, and it will be dealt with.”
According to court documents, Karadshe, Bauer’s former controller, and Stephan, a former sales person, fraudulently diverted funds to a subcontractor which they controlled and which did not provide any legitimate services to Bauer. Karadshe and Stephan falsified transaction and financial records to carry out their fraud. Both defendants are charged with 28 felony theft counts. The complaint alleges that the crimes involve a loss of more than $200,000.
The arrests of Karadshe and Stephan is the result of an extensive investigation by San Francisco Police Inspector Robert Steger. San Francisco Assistant District Attorney Theis Finlev is prosecuting the case.
