DISTRICT ATTORNEY GEORGE GASCÓN
In 2016, the San Francisco District Attorney's Office enhanced the well-being of our community by strengthening the foundation of our 21st-century public safety model. Violent crime and criminal enterprises became bigger targets, ground-breaking initiatives to reduce crime, costs, and over-incarceration flourished, and services to victims and our communities grew in number and impact.
Among many successes last year, our office:
This past year netted tremendous successes and encouraging progress in our march towards a 21st-century prosecutor’s office. Bold initiatives by our office over the past couple of years have paid dividends and have become the gold standard for others. Newer efforts have reframed conventional wisdom, leading to meaningful collaborations with the many actors of the criminal justice system, even the formerly incarcerated. As we continue to march forward, our sights remain on cultivating a public safety model that prioritizes the well-being of our community by investing in our capacity for change and growth.
Thank you for taking an interest in the important work of the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office. I look forward to working with you in the year ahead to ensure our criminal justice system is one San Franciscans can be proud of.
