EMBARCADERO SHOOTING SUSPECTS TO BE CHARGED

Prosecutors worked closely with San Francisco Police to develop case which resulted in positive identification and apprehension of suspects connected to Father’s Day shooting along the Embarcadero.


San Francisco, CA
– District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that Xavier Pittman (25) will be charged in connection to a shooting that occurred on June 18, 2023, along the Embarcadero. Pittman will be charged with conspiracy (PC 182) and two counts of second-degree burglary (PC 459). The criminal complaint also includes several allegations including that these crimes were committed while he was released from custody on another pending matter.

“I would like to thank the public for their trust and patience as we worked in partnership with the San Francisco Police to develop this case,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “I would also like to recognize the outstanding collaboration and partnership between prosecutors in my office and the San Francisco Police which has resulted in the identification, apprehension, and forthcoming prosecutions. We will continue to do everything in our power to hold those accountable who commit acts of violence in our city.”

According to San Francisco Police, on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at approximately 7:12 P.M., San Francisco Police officers from Southern and Central Stations responded to multiple locations in for a report of a shooting that resulted in multiple vehicle collisions. Officers found three crime scenes at the following locations: Beach and Stockton Streets, The Embarcadero and Kearny Street, and The Embarcadero and Howard Street.

SFPD officers responded to the area of Beach and Stockton Streets when they received several reports that the occupants of a white sedan and the occupants of a black SUV were exchanging gunfire as they were traveling eastbound on Beach Street. The suspects continued to exchange gunfire as they drove through several city streets.

Two uninvolved victim vehicles were struck by gunfire in the area of Beach and Stockton Streets. A 48-year-old male victim inside one of the vehicles sustained non-life-threatening injuries when he was struck by broken glass that was shattered as a result of the gunfire. A 34-year-old female victim inside another one of the vehicles sustained non-life-threatening injuries when she was struck by bullet fragments and broken glass. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Mr. Pittman was taken into custody by San Francisco Police on October 18, 2023. He is scheduled to be arraigned on October 20, 2023, in Department 10 of the Hall of Justice. The District Attorney’s Office will file a motion to detain Mr. Pittman pending trial because of the public safety risk he poses.

A passenger in the white sedan, identified by San Francisco Police as Richard Tuiasosopo, (22), will also be charged in connection to this incident. Mr. Tuiasosopo is currently in custody in Alameda County on unrelated charges. An arrest warrant has been issued for him and he will be transported to San Francisco to face charges in connection to this incident upon release from Alameda County’s custody.

San Francisco police also arrested a juvenile in connection to this incident, however juvenile proceedings are confidential and no further information will be disclosed regarding the proceedings involving the juvenile suspect.
