San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Ronaldo Ramirez-Feliciano (21), after a trial by jury for driving under the influence on Mission Street. Mr. Ramirez-Feliciano was convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol (VC 23152(a)) and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or greater (VC 23152(b)).
“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “My office takes driving under the influence cases seriously and will do everything possible to curb this behavior to make our roads safer. Driving under the influence is not only illegal and extremely dangerous, but each year thousands of lives are also lost to this easily preventable crime.”
According to testimony and other evidence presented at trial, on May 16, 2024, at approximately 2:13 AM, California Highway Patrol officers noticed a blue Toyota Tacoma blaring music and straddling the double yellow line near Mission and Bosworth Streets. Officers pulled the truck over and noticed the smell of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the inside. Mr. Ramirez-Feliciano was driving the truck. The CHP Officer noticed nystagmus in Mr. Ramirez-Feliciano’s eyes and asked him to step out of the car. After denying drinking that day, Mr. Ramirez-Feliciano performed poorly on three of four Field Sobriety Tests. After refusing to blow into the Preliminary Alcohol Screening (PAS) Device, Mr. Ramirez-Feliciano was arrested. At the CHP San Francisco Area Office, Mr. Ramirez-Feliciano elected to take a blood test. The test revealed a blood alcohol concentration of .132%.
The case against Mr. Ramirez-Feliciano was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Max Draskovich with assistance from paralegal Josh Nickchen. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case against Mr. Ramirez-Feliciano based on the California Highway Patrol’s thorough investigation and assistance.
“I want to thank the jury for their service,” said Assistant District Attorney Max Draskovich. “This verdict serves as a reminder that impaired driving puts lives at risk.”
Mr. Ramirez-Feliciano is currently out of custody. Sentencing is scheduled for March 5, 2025.
