MAN AND GIRLFRIEND CONVICTED IN CONNECTION TO FATAL 2017 SHOOTING

San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Brejon Jackson (28), of San Francisco, after a trial by jury for murder. Mr. Jackson was convicted of first-degree willful, deliberate, premeditated murder (PC 187(a)), with allegations that he personally discharged a firearm at an occupied motor vehicle (PC 246) and that he unlawfully possessed a firearm while masked for the purpose of concealing his identity (PC 25300(a)). The jury also convicted Mr. Jackson’s girlfriend, Nakida Lampkins (28), of two counts of forging a Certificate of Title (VC 4463(a)(1)) and passing a forged Certificate of Title (VC 4463(a)(2)).

“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “I would also like to thank the victim’s family for their patience and trust in my office as we fought for justice in the courtroom. Let this case be a reminder, that my office will always fight on behalf of victims to get justice, for as long as it takes.”

According to testimony and other evidence presented at trial, at 12:37pm on Sunday, January 29, 2017, the victim was sitting in a parked car on the 1600 block of Armstrong Street. Brejon Jackson ran up to that car and shot the victim four times, killing him. Mr. Jackson then fled to a nearby passing car and escaped to Emeryville with Ms. Lampkins. San Francisco Police Officers stopped that car five days later, which was driven by Ms. Lampkins, with Mr. Jackson in the passenger seat. Lampkins later falsely registered the vehicle in her name, indicating she purchased it one day after the murder, even though Jackson had taken it for a tune-up nine days prior.

The case against Mr. Jackson and Ms. Lampkins was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Nathan Quigley, with assistance from District Attorney Investigator Douglass Keeley, paralegals Jessica Diamond, Julio Florez Guzman, Tony Yu and IT support from Noaeh Pinaire. Victim Advocates Lily Bueno, Nori Kitaoka, Ruben Marquez, Maria Reynoso worked closely with the victim’s family for over eight years throughout the pendency of this case. This case was solved by the San Francisco Police Department Homicide Unit in coordination with the Community Violence Reduction Team.

“It is easy today to forget that Alexander Hamilton once said, ‘the first duty of society is justice’,” said Assistant District Attorney Nathan Quigley. “This case took eight and a half years to reach a just result, the last three years spent simply waiting for a trial courtroom to become available. That is far too long for victims and their families to wait their turn for justice. At least with this result, we were finally able to honor that duty to Mr. Willis’ family and to his memory.”

Mr. Jackson is currently in custody. Ms. Lampkins is currently out of custody. Sentencing for both is scheduled for August 18, 2025.
