San Francisco, CA – Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that Daniel Patrick Rodriguez Jr. (42) was charged with murder in connection to a fatal stabbing on September 10, 2025. Mr. Rodriguez is scheduled to be arraigned on September 16, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 19 at the Hall of Justice. The District Attorney’s Office will move to have him detained pending trial due to the public safety risk he poses.
Mr. Rodriguez is charged with one count of murder (PC 187 (a)) and one count of child endangerment (PC 273(a)(a)). The criminal complaint also includes an allegation that Mr. Rodriguez personally and intentionally used a deadly weapon in the commission of the murder (PC 12022.1(b)).
According to court documents, on September 10, 2025, at approximately 4:43 p.m. San Francisco Police responded to the intersection of Junipero Serra and Ocean Avenue on a report of a stabbing. Multiple witnesses saw Mr. Rodriguez and the victim, allegedly pushing and punching each other. Multiple bystanders stopped to break up the altercation. While bystanders were attempting to break up the fight, Mr. Rodriguez allegedly walked around the witness and stabbed the victim once in the neck. After allegedly stabbing the victim in the neck area, Mr. Rodriguez walked away calmly. The victim’s eight-year-old son was present during the entire incident. Mr. Rodriguez was taken into custody on September 12, 2025, by San Francisco Police in Tuolumne County, California.
Although charges have been filed, and this case is being handled by the San Francisco District Attorney’s Homicide Unit, this remains an active investigation.
