MAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION TO FATAL STABBING IN TARAVAL DISTRICT

San Francisco, CA

Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that Sam Collins (29), was charged in connection to a fatal stabbing in the Taraval District. Mr. Collins is charged with one count of murder (PC 187(a)) with an allegation that he personally and intentionally used a deadly or dangerous weapon in the commission of the murder (PC 12022(b)(1)) and two counts of child endangerment (PC 273a(a)). Mr. Collins is scheduled to be arraigned on July 30, 2025 at 1:30 PM in Department 10 at the Hall of Justice.

Mr. Collins is currently in custody and the District Attorney’s Office will move to keep him in custody due to the public safety risk he poses.

According to San Francisco Police, on July 26, 2025, at approximately 4:12 PM., San Francisco Police officers responded to Ocean Ave. and Lee Ave. regarding a stabbing. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male suffering from an apparent stab wound. Officers rendered aid and medics arrived on scene who transported the victim to the hospital for life threatening injuries. Despite the life-saving efforts of emergency responders and the medical staff, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased in the hospital.

Although charges have been filed, and this case is being handled by the San Francisco District Attorney’s Homicide Unit, this remains an active investigation.
