MAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION TO INGLESIDE HOMICIDE

San Francisco, CA – District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that Marcelano Austin Wilson (46) has been charged in connection to a stabbing in the Ingleside District. Mr. Wilson’s first court appearance was on March 15, 2024. He was arraigned on March 19, 2024, and pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied all allegations. He has been charged with one count of murder (PC 187(a)), one count of elder abuse (PC 368(b)(1)), one count of first-degree residential burglary (PC 459), one count of evading an officer (VC 2800.2(a)), one count of assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury (PC 245(a)(4)), and one count of second-degree commercial burglary (PC 459). The criminal complaint also alleges that Mr. Wilson personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon in the commission of the murder (PC 12022.1(b)).

“I offer my condolences to the victim’s friends and family and unwavering commitment to pursuing justice in the courtroom,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “Although, there is nothing we can do to bring her back, we will do everything we can to ensure there is accountability and justice.”

According to San Francisco Police, On March 13, 2024, at approximately 9:03 a.m., San Francisco Police officers assigned to Ingleside Station responded to the 100 block of Appleton Avenue on a report of a possible burglary. When officers arrived at the residence, they located an adult female victim suffering from apparent stab wounds. Officers rendered aid and summoned paramedics to the scene who pronounced the victim deceased. The San Francisco Police Department Homicide detail took lead of the investigation. Through the course of the investigation, the suspect was identified as 46-year-old Marcelano Wilson of San Francisco. Within a few hours officers located Wilson driving a vehicle in the Ingleside district. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but he failed to yield, and a vehicle pursuit ensued. He then led officers on a chase through city streets and highways which eventually terminated in Oakland, where he was taken into custody.

The next court date for Mr. Wilson is scheduled for April 16, 2024, for a status hearing. At his first court appearance on March 15, 2024, the District Attorney’s Office moved to detain him pending trial because of the public safety risk he poses. The court granted the motion to detain without prejudice and set no bail for Mr. Wilson. The court will hear further arguments on the motion to detain at a future hearing.
