According to San Francisco Police, On March 13, 2024, at approximately 9:03 a.m., San Francisco Police officers assigned to Ingleside Station responded to the 100 block of Appleton Avenue on a report of a possible burglary. When officers arrived at the residence, they located an adult female victim suffering from apparent stab wounds. Officers rendered aid and summoned paramedics to the scene who pronounced the victim deceased. The San Francisco Police Department Homicide detail took lead of the investigation. Through the course of the investigation, the suspect was identified as 46-year-old Marcelano Wilson of San Francisco. Within a few hours officers located Wilson driving a vehicle in the Ingleside district. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but he failed to yield, and a vehicle pursuit ensued. He then led officers on a chase through city streets and highways which eventually terminated in Oakland, where he was taken into custody.

The next court date for Mr. Wilson is scheduled for April 16, 2024, for a status hearing. At his first court appearance on March 15, 2024, the District Attorney’s Office moved to detain him pending trial because of the public safety risk he poses.
