San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Oren Zakhrabov (35), after a trial by jury for driving under the influence in SOMA. Mr. Zakhrabov was convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol (VC 23152(a)) and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or greater (VC 23152(b)).
“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “The jury’s verdict holds Mr. Zakhrabov accountable for his dangerous behavior and sends a message that this conduct is unacceptable and those who engage in it will face consequences.
According to testimony and other evidence presented at trial, on March 23, 2024, at approximately 2:09 AM, California Highway Patrol officers saw Mr. Zakhrabov speeding in a yellow Lamborghini past other cars, peel out from a red light, with no license plate while on Harrison Street just east of Ninth Street. When CHP approached the car on the driver’s side, they smelled a strong odor of alcohol.
The case against Mr. Zakhrabov was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Corliss Brekken with assistance from paralegals Joshua Nickchen and Raquel Paz and IT support from Noaeh Pinaire. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case against Mr. Zakhrabov based on the California Highway Patrol’s diligent investigation and assistance in keeping impaired drivers off the road.
“I want to thank the jury for their service in this trial, especially during the holiday season,” said Assistant District Attorney Corliss Brekken. “Driving is a privilege, and this verdict is a reminder that there are consequences for driving under the influence of alcohol.”
Mr. Zakhrabov is currently out of custody. Sentencing is scheduled for January 24, 2025.
