MAN CONVICTED OF FIRST-DEGREE ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY IN COW HOLLOW

San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Deon Brimmer (44), after a trial by jury for attempting to break into a Cow Hollow home. Mr. Brimmer was convicted of one count of attempted burglary in the first-degree (PC 664/459) and possession of burglary tools (PC 466). The court also found true the allegation that these crimes were committed while Mr. Brimmer was out of custody on his own recognizance (PC 120022.1(b)).

“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “The jury’s verdict holds Mr. Brimmer accountable and delivers justice to the victims. My office will continue to work closely with the San Francisco Police Department to ensure perpetrators face consequences, as we work collaboratively to make our city safer.”

According to evidence and other testimony presented at trial, on December 7, 2024, under the cover of darkness, Mr. Brimmer climbed a fence and attempted to drill through a door lock at a home on Union Street in an attempt to gain access to the residence. Mr. Brimmer approached the home shortly after the resident had left. The resident observed Mr. Brimmer on surveillance cameras and called 9-1-1. Police arrived on scene while Mr. Brimmer was still drilling through the lock. Mr. Brimmer’s break-in attempt was highly sophisticated and planned. Prior to the attempt, he filed false deeds and documents with the City and County of San Francisco and the California Secretary of State in order to make it seem like he owned the home.

The case against Mr. Brimmer was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Yuri Chornobil, with assistance from District Attorney Investigators John Lenny and Gino Guerrero, paralegal Joshua Ng, IT support from Noeaeh Pinaire. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case against Mr. Brimmer based on the quick response and thorough investigation of officers from the San Francisco Police Department’s Northern Station.

“I want to thank the jury for their careful consideration of the facts and law in this case,” said Assistant District Attorney Yuri Chornobil. “While all home invasions are terrifying, the level of sophistication and planning performed by Mr. Brimmer in preparation of this incident was particularly troubling. The residents of San Francisco can sleep easier knowing he will be held accountable for his actions.”

Mr. Brimmer is currently in custody. Sentencing is scheduled to be set on August 29, 2025.
