San Francisco, CA –  District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that William Odom-Hickey (53), of Oakland, has been charged in connection to lewd actions near a school in the Richmond District. Mr. Odom-Hickey was arraigned on January 25, 2024, and pleaded not guilty to one count of stalking (PC 646.9(a)), one count of child molesting (PC 647.6(a)((1)), one count of child endangerment (PC 273a(b)), two counts of indecent exposure (PC 314(1)), possession of a concealed firearm that he was not the registered owner of in a vehicle (PC 25400(a)(1)), carrying a loaded firearm that he was not the registered owner of (PC 25850(a)), and one count of possession of a firearm on school grounds (PC 626.9(b)).

“I would like to thank the San Francisco Police Department for their work to keep our children and schools safe,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “My office will do everything in our power to keep children safe and ensure that there is accountability and consequences for dangerous, unacceptable behavior near our schools.”

According to San Francisco Police, on January 23, 2024, at approximately 8:47 a.m., San Francisco Police officers from Richmond Station responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Geary Boulevard and 31st Avenue. Officers detained the occupant of the vehicle for further investigation. Officers arrived on scene and met with the reporting party who stated that an adult male was making lewd gestures near a school. Officers met with three female victims, two adults and one minor, who described numerous prior occasions where the adult male had behaved inappropriately near the area of a school. Officers placed the adult male suspect under arrest. During the arrest a loaded firearm and additional magazines were recovered from the vehicle.

Mr. Odom-Hickey’s next court date is February 7, 2024, for the preliminary hearing in this case. The District Attorney’s Office moved to detain him pending trial because of the public safety risk he poses. The court granted the People’s motion to detain without prejudice and set no bail for Mr. Odom-Hickey. The court will hear further arguments on the motion to detain at the time of the preliminary hearing in this case. If convicted of all charges he faces more than five years in state prison.

Although charges have been filed, this remains an active investigation. While multiple victims have been identified in this particular case, if you believe you have been a victim of the suspect’s crimes, please contact SFPD Special Victim’s Unit at 415-553-9225.
