Window Reimbursement

Smashed windows are not the fault of the business owner. In order to support struggling small businesses, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, District 5 Supervisor Dean Preston and the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office are launching a victim assistance program for small businesses impacted by broken windows in District 5. Eligible businesses can be reimbursed up to $1,000 of the cost of replacing a storefront window with a maximum of two reimbursements per year. Reimbursements for broken windows are eligible for incidents that occurred on or after March 17, 2020. Eligible businesses include:

  • Storefront business located in SF District 5 and in good standing
  • Have a total annual revenue under $25M
  • Self-employed, sole-proprietors and independent contractors are eligible
  • Immigration status does not affect eligibility
  • Incident occurred in Supervisorial District 5 in San Francisco
  • Claim presented within 120 days of incident or within 120 days of the start of this program
