San Francisco, CA – District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that Patrick Potter (29) has been charged in connection to a series of burglaries across San Francisco. Mr. Potter was arraigned on July 18, 2023, and pled not guilty to three counts of felony first degree residential burglary (PC 459), one count of attempted first degree residential burglary (PC 664/459), 11 counts of felony second degree burglary (PC 459) for commercial, residential and auto burglaries, six counts of receiving or buying stolen property (PC 496(a)), one count of grand theft (PC 487(a)), four counts of felony vandalism (PC 594(b)(1)), and three misdemeanor counts of vandalism (PC 596(b)(2)(A).
“Property crimes deeply impact residents and businesses across the city,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “I am grateful to the San Francisco Police Department for their efforts to solve this burglary series that spanned many neighborhoods and involved numerous victims. We will seek justice for the victims in the courtroom and continue working closely with our law enforcement partners to improve public safety across the city and ensure that there is accountability for criminal behavior.”
Mr. Potter is alleged to have burglarized and vandalized businesses, residences and vehicles across a large swath of neighborhoods including Chinatown, North Beach, Telegraph Hill, Russian Hill, Nob Hill, and Pacific Heights. Among the items alleged to have been stolen are laptops, video game consoles, and packages.
Mr. Potter’s next court date is July 25, 2023, for the preliminary hearing in this matter. The court set no bail and he is currently in custody. If convicted of all charges, and all allegations are found to be true, he faces more than 25 years in State Prison.
