DISTRICT ATTORNEY BROOKE JENKINS ANNOUNCES FIRST PUBLIC SAFETY FOCUSED BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT FOR CHILDREN

San Francisco, CA – Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced the launch of a new annual back to school event – Keeping it Safe with Dub Nation.  The goal of the event is to celebrate our youth as they return to school and provide them with an opportunity to meet and interact with law enforcement partners.  The free event will be open to the public and offers participants a day of fun, food, games, activities, giveaways and raffles.  The event will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 730 Terry Francois Blvd from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Parents and caregivers may pre-register children aged 5-10 for a chance to win an electronic tablet here.

“I am thrilled to be joined by law enforcement partners to launch this first SFDA hosted public safety community event for our children,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins.  “This event will provide our youth with a safe, positive, enriching experience and connection with law enforcement.”

Keeping it Safe with Dub Nation is a collaboration between the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office and law enforcement partners and community-based organizations.  Partners include the San Francisco Police Department, San Francisco Sheriff’s Office, San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department among others.

The District Attorneys’ Office Youth and Young Adult Services Unit spearheaded the creation and launch of Keeping it Safe with Dub Nation.  The Youth and Young Adult Services Unit announced in June seeks to advance the District Attorney’s Access to Hope Initiative and work to connect youth and young adults to opportunities that positively redirect them to resources and supportive services with the goal of preventing future contact with the criminal justice system and disrupting cycles of violence and victimization.

Access to Hope Initiative programs and projects play a critical role in the District Attorney’s Office’s ongoing commitment to centering victims and those impacted by crime and violence, in our pursuit of justice, and work to advance smart criminal justice reforms.
