San Francisco, CA – Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that Joseph Zachary Negapatan (25), has been charged in connection to fencing stolen bicycles. Mr. Negapatan was arraigned on January 22, 2025, and pleaded not guilty. He is charged with one count of receiving stolen property (PC 496(a)).
“I would like to thank the San Francisco Police Department for their work with the victim to quickly identify and apprehend the suspect in this case,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “My office takes its responsibility to prosecute these types of crimes seriously. We must work to shut down the markets that continue to sell stolen goods from our city.”
According to San Francisco Police, on January 2, 2025, San Francisco Police Officers responded to a home in the Richmond District regarding a residential burglary. An investigation determined that an unknown suspect had gained entry into the victim’s residence and stole several bicycles valued at over $25,000 dollars. On January 13, 2025, the victim notified San Francisco Police Department Burglary Unit Investigators that he believed he had located his stolen property being sold in an online marketplace. An investigation identified Mr. Negapatan as a possible suspect.
Officers conducted a search of Mr. Negapatan’s home pursuant to a search warrant and recovered the victim’s stolen property, in addition to several other suspected stolen bicycles and bicycle parts.
Mr. Negapatan’s next court date is February 19, 2025, for prehearing conference in this matter. The Court ordered Mr. Negapatan stay 150 yards away from Laney College Flea Market in Oakland and be subject to a warrantless search condition of his person, residence, cell phone and vehicle.
