MAN CONVICTED OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND ASSAULT IN NORTH BEACH ABUSE CASE

San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Geovanta McGee (35), after a trial by jury for domestic violence. Mr. McGee was convicted of domestic violence (PC 273.5(a)) and assault (PC 240).

“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “The jury’s verdict holds Mr. McGee accountable and delivers justice to the victim. My office recognizes how serious these cases are and will continue to do everything we can to deliver justice for victims of crime who expect a well-functioning criminal justice system that protects residents.”

According to testimony and other evidence presented at trial, on September 30, 2024, 2024, the victim went to a local nonprofit in North Beach seeking help. She arrived in a wheelchair with a cast and reported what had been happening to her for three days. Mr. McGee had struck the victim repeatedly and threatened her with a knife. He also dropped a chair on the victim while she was on the ground. The victim managed to get out of the house and flee to the community center where she was finally able to ask for help. Police went to the victim’s home and arrested Mr. McGee without incident.

The case against Mr. McGee was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Patrick McKuin, with assistance from District Attorney Investigator Ted Marting, paralegals Lena Ku and Loretta Luu, the subpoena unit, and IT support from Noaeh Pinaire. Victim Advocate Kendall Anderson worked closely with the victim throughout the pendency of this case. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case against Mr. McGee based on the San Francisco Police Department’s Central Station’s investigation.

“The San Francisco District Attorney’s office will work tirelessly to protect the most vulnerable in our society,” said Assistant District Attorney Patrick McKuin. “Domestic violence is never acceptable.”

Mr. McGee is currently out of custody. Sentencing is scheduled for February 5, 2025.
