Mr. Major was arraigned on January 30, 2025, and pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied all allegations. Mr. Guzman-Bonilla and Mr. Major are each charged with one count of using a minor to sell or carry a narcotic (H&S 11353), three count of possession for sale of controlled substances (H&S 11351), one count of possession for sale of methamphetamine (H&S 11378), one count of possession for sale of cocaine base (H&S 11351.5) and one count of possession for sale of Xanax (H&S 11375(b)(1). The criminal complaint also alleges that Mr. Guzman-Bonilla and Mr. Major possessed a substance containing more than one ounce of more than one ounce of fentanyl (H&S 11370.4(c)(1)(A)).
“My office will use the full weight of the law in the fight to close open-air drug markets and hold drug dealers accountable, especially those that would exploit juveniles in their deadly trade,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “All levels of government must work collaboratively to break the deadly drug trade in San Francisco that is holding communities hostage.”
According to court documents, on January 21, 2025, at approximately 10:30 PM, on the 400 block of Eddy Street in the Tenderloin, San Francisco Police saw a juvenile in a hyper vigilant state handling suspected narcotics. Officers saw the juvenile allegedly walk over to Mr. Major to handle suspected narcotics together. The juvenile then allegedly made contact with another person and apparently completed a narcotics transaction. The juvenile allegedly then went over to Mr. Guzman-Bonilla and handed him money. San Francisco Police searched all three individuals and collectively found 48.6 grams of fentanyl, as well as cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, Xanax, two scales and $615 in US currency.
The next court date for both Mr. Guzman-Bonilla and Mr. Major is February 7, 2025, for the preliminary hearing in this matter. The District Attorney’s Office moved to have each detained pending trial because of the public safety risk they pose. The court released both men on their own recognizance over prosecutors’ objection and will rule on the motion to detain following the preliminary hearing. As a condition of their release, both men are ordered to appear at the next and all subsequent hearings. They are also both subject to a stay-away order and must stay away from the area where they were arrested in the Tenderloin.
Although charges have been filed, this remains an active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the San Francisco Police Department Tip Line at 1-415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the text message with SFPD. You may remain anonymous.
