San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Darrion Rucker (30), of Oakland, after a trial by jury for drug dealing in the Tenderloin. Mr. Rucker was convicted of possession for sale fentanyl (H&S 11351), and methamphetamine (H&S 11378).
“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “The jury’s verdict holds Mr. Rucker accountable for his crimes and sends a message that San Franciscans refuse to accept this behavior. This conviction should serve as a wake-up call for anyone playing a role in the drug trade. We are committed to ensuring that those who need help can access help and recovery services, and those who are exploiting pain and misery, are held accountable.”
According to testimony and other evidence presented at trial, on April 8, 2024, Mr. Rucker was aiding and abetting an unknown suspect with the selling of narcotics on the 700 block of Geary Street. A San Francisco Police Officer observed Mr. Rucker retrieve narcotics from a backpack he was wearing and hand them to the suspect upon request. Officers subsequently arrested Mr. Rucker and inside of his backpack they found 13.8 grams of fentanyl, 2.0 grams of methamphetamine, and a digital scale.
The case against Mr. Rucker was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Axell Hernandez, with assistance from paralegals Rayna Bryan and Sara Wong, intern Michelle Pascual and IT support from Noaeh Pinaire. Prosecutors were able to put on a strong case thanks to the dedication of officers and staff from the San Francisco Police Department’s Narcotics unit.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the jury for their careful consideration of the evidence and for delivering a fair and just verdict,” said Assistant District Attorney Axell Hernandez. “This conviction shows that the people of San Francisco are committed to holding accountable those who traffic poison on our streets.”
Mr. Rucker is currently in custody pending sentencing. Sentencing is scheduled for March 12, 2025.
