San Francisco, CA – District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that Miles Thomas (26), has been charged in connection to twenty-one retail theft incidents at a Walgreens and CVS stores from May 2024 through March 6, 2025. Mr. Thomas was arraigned on March 11, 2025, and pleaded not guilty to all charges. Mr. Thomas is charged with one count of second-degree robbery (PC 211), two counts of second-degree commercial burglary (PC 459), two counts of grand theft (PC 487(a)), 12 counts of commercial shoplifting (PC 459.5(a)) and seven counts of petty theft with two or more priors (PC 666.1(a)(1)/488).
“Prolific thieves wreak havoc on our retail businesses and our communities,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “My office will continue to do everything we can to put a stop to these brazen acts by taking action to ensure that there is accountability, and thieves understand that they will face consequences.”
According to court records, the.21 theft incidents occurred at the Walgreens located at 1201 Taraval Street and 1344 Stockton Street and the CVS located at 701 Portola Avenue. In each case, store employees identified Mr. Thomas as a habitual thief and/or as carrying a skateboard and/or wearing distinctive sunglasses. Allegedly, Mr. Thomas almost exclusively stole dental hygiene products. In two separate incidents Mr. Thomas allegedly stole over $1,000 of merchandise. In one incident on August 28, 2024, at 1344 Stockton Street, Mr. Thomas is alleged to have stolen multiple items and pushed an employee out of the way who was trying to stop him. Shortly after he allegedly returned and once again allegedly pushed a store employee who tried to recover some merchandise. On March 6, 2025, he was taken into custody by San Francisco Police after allegedly stealing $135.55 worth of dental hygiene products from the CVS located at 701 Portola Avenue
Mr. Thomas’s next court date is March 21, 2025, for the preliminary hearing in this matter. The court granted the District Attorney’s Office’s motion to detain Mr. Thomas pending trial and set no bail without prejudice.
