San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Jason Fayad (34), after a trial by jury for stabbing a man in the Tenderloin. Mr. Fayad was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon (PC 245(a)(1)).
“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “Those who engage in this kind of violent behavior will be held accountable and face consequences. My office takes these cases seriously and will continue to do everything in our power to ensure that justice is served and that our communities are safe.”
According to the testimony and evidence presented at trial, On November 8, 2023, the victim was walking down Leavenworth Street near Turk, when he was brutally attacked by approximately eight men. Mr. Fayad joined in on the attack and stabbed the victim in the back. Following the attack, the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The case against Mr. Fayad was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Yuri Chornobil with assistance from District Attorney Investigator Sammy Kim, paralegals Rayna Bryan and Aareona Mills and IT support from Noaeh Pinaire. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case against Mr. Fayad based on the work of SFPD officers from Tenderloin Station, and the Neighborhood Violence Reduction Team
“I want to thank the jury for their careful consideration of the facts and law in this case,” said Assistant District Attorney Yuri Chornobil. “Mr. Fayad will be held accountable for his violent actions against the victim in this case.”
Mr. Fayad is currently in custody. Sentencing will be scheduled on May 12, 2025.
