San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Tuvshintur Ganzorig (37), after a trial by jury for driving under the influence in the Richmond District. Mr. Ganzorig was convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol (VC 21252(a)) and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or greater (VC 23152(b)).
“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “Driving under the influence is extremely dangerous, unlawful and entirely preventable. The jury’s verdict should send a message that drivers who choose to drink and selfishly put the public in harm’s way will be held accountable for their conduct.”
According to testimony and other evidence presented at trial, on December 23, 2024, San Francisco Fire Department and Police Department personnel responded to a 9-1-1 dispatch at Spruce Street and Geary Boulevard at approximately 2:14 am. SFFD Fire Rescue personnel observed a Mercedes GLS450 traveling westbound on Geary Boulevard with an unresponsive driver. SFFD intervened to stop the vehicle and render emergency aid to the driver, Mr. Ganzorig. Mr. Ganzorig did not have any medical complaints and instead was simply incapacitated due to excessive alcohol consumption.
SFPD Officers then spoke to Mr. Ganzorig who admitted that he drank alcoholic beverages before getting behind the wheel. During standardized field sobriety tests, Mr. Ganzorig performed poorly. After this thorough investigation, Mr. Ganzorig was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Mr. Ganzorig was then transported to Richmond station and completed a blood draw chemical test. The blood test, taken at 4:14 am revealed a BAC of 0.248, over three times the legal limit.
The case against Mr. Ganzorig was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Sarah Quiñones with assistance from paralegals Josh Nickchen and Raquel Paz Aleman and the subpoena unit. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case against Mr. Ganzorig based on the San Francisco Police Department’s thorough investigation and assistance.
“Driving under the influence of alcohol is a selfish and needless crime that reflects a complete disregard for the safety of others and the well-being of our community,” said Assistant District Attorney Sarah Quiñones. “The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office is committed to prosecuting DUI offenses to hold offenders accountable and protect the public from preventable harm.”
Mr. Ganzorig is currently out of custody. Sentencing is scheduled for May 15, 2025.
