San Francisco, CA – Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that Abraham Torres (44) was charged in connection with a fatal shooting. He is scheduled to be arraigned on May 16, 2025, at 1:30 pm at the Hall of Justice in Department 10. Mr. Torres is charged with murder (PC 187(a)) with an allegation that he personally and intentionally used a firearm in the commission of the murder (PC 12022.53(d)), and possession of a firearm by a felon (PC 29800(a)(1)). Mr. Torres is currently in custody. The District Attorney’s Office moved to have him detained pending trial due to the public safety risk he poses
According to San Francisco Police, on May 14, 2025, at approximately 1:11 pm, San Francisco Police officers responded to the area of Columbus Avenue and Northpoint Street regarding a shooting. While enroute, officers learned that an unknown male subject was inside of his vehicle when he shot at another occupied vehicle and immediately fled from the area. Officers arrived on scene and canvassed the area for any victims, suspects and witnesses. While officers were conducting their preliminary investigation, officers learned that the suspect turned himself in at SFPD Central station. Officers developed probable cause and placed the suspect, 44-year-old male Abraham Torres, under arrest.
Although charges have been filed, and this case is being handled by the San Francisco District Attorney’s Homicide Unit, this remains an active investigation.
