San Francisco, CA – District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that Natomee Hinton (23), has been charged in connection to police evasion incident on August 26, 2025. Mr. Hinton was arraigned on August 28, 2025, and pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied the allegations
Mr. Hinton is charged with one count of assault upon a peace officer/firefighter with a deadly weapon (PC 245(c)), one count of evading an officer with willful disregard (VC 2800.2(a)), one count of evading an officer against traffic (VC 2800.4), one count of leaving the scene of an accident (VC20001(a)), and one count of possession of burglar tools (PC 466).
According to court records, on August 26, 2025, at approximately 12:40 p.m. SFPD Officers patrolling Market and Jones St. allegedly observed Mr. Hinton standing in front of 1098 Market Street. Upon further investigation, officers learned that Mr. Hinton was on parole and had a no bail warrant out of Los Angeles County. Officers lost sight of Mr. Hinton and searched the area for him, locating him allegedly in the driver’s seat of an Audi vehicle registered in his name. Officers surrounded the vehicle to prevent Mr. Hinton from leaving when he allegedly reversed and then accelerated the vehicle forward, hitting a marked patrol car multiple times. Officers surrounding the vehicle on foot attempted to deflate the tires of the vehicle with pocketknives, prompting Mr. Hinton to allegedly reverse again. Officers then shattered the driver’s side window and yelled for Mr. Hinton to get out of the vehicle; upon refusal Mr. Hinton was pepper sprayed. Mr. Hinton then allegedly reversed the vehicle onto the sidewalk and into the side of the building of 50 Jones Street, hitting the wall before allegedly accelerating further down the sidewalk causing officers to run out of the way to avoid being hit. Mr. Hinton then allegedly drove away on Golden Gate Avenue leading officers on a lengthy and dangerous pursuit through the Tenderloin, Southern and Central Police Districts. During this pursuit Mr. Hinton allegedly drove at a high rate of speed and ran numerous red lights, causing multiple crashes along the way. Mr. Hinton allegedly stopped the vehicle in traffic around the Embarcadero and fled into a nearby bar, jumping over a ledge and into the Bay waters under Pier 30. The SFPD Marine Unit responded to the scene and pulled Mr. Hinton out of the water where he was arrested.
The District Attorney’s Office moved to detain Mr. Hinton, pending trial because of the public safety risk he poses. No bail was set and he remains in custody. His next court date is scheduled for September 11,2025 for the preliminary hearing.
