MAN CONVICTED OF BATTERY FOR PUNCHING WOMAN

San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Letumu Eneliko (39) after a trial by jury for attacking a woman outside of a nightclub in SOMA. Mr. Eneliko was convicted of battery.

“I would like to thank the jury for their service on this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “This conviction holds Mr. Eneliko accountable and makes clear that there is no place for violence in our community. I am grateful that this incident did not escalate and that the quick response of the San Francisco Police prevented further violence in this case.”

According to testimony and other evidence presented at trial, on the night of May 23, 2025, Mr. Eneliko attacked a woman outside of a nightclub on the 500 block of Fourth Street. The victim was meeting friends to celebrate a graduation when she saw Mr. Eneliko chasing and threatening another group of women. She attempted to intervene, and Mr. Eneliko punched her in the face. The other women ran to their vehicle, locked the doors, and called the police. San Francisco police officers arrived shortly thereafter and apprehended Mr. Eneliko approximately two blocks away.

The case against Mr. Eneliko was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Samantha Zurcher, with assistance from District Attorney Investigator Teddy Martin, paralegals Raquel Paz Aleman and Josh Nickchen, and IT support from Ada Yu, Leland Chan and Noaeh Pinaire. Prosecutors were able to develop this case based on the prompt response and thorough investigation by officers with the San Francisco Police Department’s Southern Station.

“I want to thank the jury for their careful attention and deliberation in returning this verdict,” said Assistant District Attorney Samantha Zurcher. “Violence against women has no place in our city. This verdict reaffirms that the people of San Francisco will not tolerate unlawful violence in our streets, our nightclubs, or anywhere else.”
