TWO MEN CHARGED WITH MURDER IN CONNECTION TO SEPARATE INCIDENTS

One man is charged with murder and second-degree robbery in connection to an incident that occurred on February 5, 2026, the other is charged with murder and felon in possession of a firearm in connection to an incident that occurred on February 11, 2026

San Francisco, CA – Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that two men have been charged with murder in separate, unrelated cases. Eduardo Vivero (34) was charged with murder in connection to a fatal assault that occurred on February 5, 2026. Sefanaia Alatini (37) was charged with murder in connection to a fatal shooting on Turk Street that occurred on February 11, 2026.

Mr. Vivero is scheduled to be arraigned on February 26, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in the Hall of Justice. Mr. Vivero is charged with murder, with an allegation that he personally used a deadly weapon in the commission of the murder and one count of second-degree robbery with an allegation that he used a deadly weapon in the commission of the robbery. The District Attorney’s Office moved to have Mr. Vivero detained pending trial without bail due to the public safety risk he poses at the first calling of this case on February 23, 2026. No bail was set and he remains in custody.

According to court documents, on February 5, 2026, San Francisco Police located an unconscious person with no identification on the ground near Bush Street and Taylor Street. The victim was taken to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital where he later died of his injuries. Investigators recovered surveillance footage that captured the entire incident, allegedly showing Mr. Vivero approach the victim and swing a long object consistent with a wooden board or pole at the victim’s head. The victim fell and then the defendant walked away carrying the victim’s bag. Hours after the assault, Mr. Vivero was captured on surveillance camera in the Tenderloin and Union Square areas allegedly wearing the same clothing and the victim’s backpack.

Mr. Alatini is scheduled to be arraigned on February 25, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in the Hall of Justice. Mr. Alatini is charged with murder, with an allegation that he personally used a firearm in the commission of the murder and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The District Attorney’s Office moved to have Mr. Alatini detained pending trial without bail due to the public safety risk he poses at the first calling of this case on February 23, 2026. No bail was set and he remains in custody.

According to court documents, on February 11, 2026, at approximately 8:55 a.m., San Francisco Police responded to the 100 block of Turk Street regarding a shooting. SFPD recovered video footage that captured the incident, allegedly showing Mr. Alatini, the security guard of a parking lot on the 100 block of Turk Street, and the victim engaged in a conversation, followed by Mr. Alatini walking away and returning with a firearm. Allegedly, the video then shows Mr. Alatini and the victim continue to engage in a discussion when the victim pulls out what appears to be a small bottle and sprays it in the direction of Mr. Alatini, followed by him turning away from Mr. Alatini and attempting to walk away. The video then allegedly shows Mr. Alatini shoot the victim in his back.
