JURY CONVICTS MAN FOLLOWING ATTACK AND SEXUAL ASSAULT ON WOMAN IN HIS HOME

San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Demetrius Hill (37), of San Francisco, after a trial by jury for attacking and sexually assaulting a woman in his apartment. Mr. Hill was convicted of forced oral copulation, assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, with allegations that he was armed during the commission of the crime found true. He was also convicted of two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of assault.

“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “The jury’s verdict delivers justice to the victim and holds Mr. Hill accountable for his heinous crimes. I hope this verdict brings the victim some comfort as she works to heal from the horrific abuse she endured at the hands of Mr. Hill.”

According to testimony and other evidence presented at trial, on June 9, 2024, the victim went to her brother’s apartment to buy him groceries and cook him dinner. Mr. Hill lived close by. Mr. Hill and the victim had known each other for over 15 years. After spending time with her brother, the victim went to Mr. Hill’s apartment to talk. Mr. Hill became upset with the victim and an argument ensued. Mr. Hill then became violent and assaulted her with various weapons, including a wine bottle and a tire iron. Mr. Hill then sexually assaulted her in the bathroom. The ordeal lasted the entire evening and into the next morning. The victim was able to escape the next day and went to the hospital for treatment.

The case against Mr. Hill was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Rick Hullinger, with assistance from paralegal Andrew Ong, the subpoena unit, and District Attorney Investigators. Special thanks to victim Advocate Jodee Brown who accompanied the victim on the witness stand during four grueling days of testimony. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case thanks to the dedication of officers who investigated this case from the San Francisco Police Department’s Special Victims Unit.

“The emotional toll victims face while reliving their trauma on the witness stand cannot be understated,” said Assistant District Attorney Rick Hullinger. “The victim showed incredible bravery and resilience to obtain justice in this case.”

Mr. Hill is currently in custody pending sentencing. He faces up to 25 years in state prison and must register for life pursuant to Penal Code section 290 for his crimes. A date to set sentencing is scheduled for April 1, 2026.
