TEXAS MAN CHARGED WITH TWO COUNTS OF ATTEMPTED MURDER AND MULTIPLE OTHER FELONIES IN CONNECTION TO INCENDIARY DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE THROWN AT RUSSIAN HILL RESIDENCE

San Francisco, CA – Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that Daniel Alejandro Moreno-Gama (20), of Houston, Texas, was charged with multiple felonies in connection to an attack on a residence in Russian Hill on April 10, 2026, and a business on the 1400 block of Third Street.

Mr. Moreno-Gama is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., at the Hall of Justice. The District Attorney’s Office will move to have Mr. Moreno-Gama held in custody pending trial without bail because of the public safety risk he poses.

In connection with the incident at the Russian Hill residence Mr. Moreno-Gama is charged with two counts of attempted murder (PC 664/187), with allegations that he personally used an incendiary destructive device in the commission of these crimes, attempted arson (PC 455a)), arson of a gate (PC 451(d)), possession of an incendiary device (PC 453(a)), possession of a destructive device in a public place (PC 18715(a)), possession of a destructive device or explosive with intent to injure a victim (PC 18740), and exploding or igniting a destructive device with intent to murder (PC 18745).

In connection with the incident at the business, Mr. Moreno-Gama is also charged with attempted criminal threats (PC 664/422), possession of a flammable or combustible substance (PC 453(a)), and the attempted arson of an occupied building (PC 455(a)).

According to court documents, in the early hours of April 10, 2026, Mr. Moreno-Gama allegedly brought a destructive incendiary device to a residence in Russian Hill with the express intent to murder a man who lived there and anyone in the house at the time. Mr. Moreno-Gama allegedly travelled from Texas with a knife, a gun, ammunition, and a list of targets. To carry out his plan Mr. Moreno-Gama acquired multiple containers of kerosene. He also acquired, or personally made, a destructive device commonly called a Molotov cocktail. Mr. Moreno-Gama allegedly brought, lit, and threw a Molotov cocktail (a bomb) at the Russian Hill residence at 3:30 a.m., in the morning where his target would be sleeping and most vulnerable.

Then he allegedly went on to the headquarters of a business located on the 1400 block of Third Street and threatened to burn the building down. He brought with him a large jug of Kerosene and a lighter. He allegedly attempted to break into the building but was stopped by security.
