JURY CONVICTS MAN OF ILLEGAL FIREARM POSSESSION IN SOMA

San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Jaylyn Jackson (32), after a trial by jury for illegal possession of a loaded firearm as a convicted felon. Mr. Jackson was convicted of felon in possession of a firearm (PC 29800) and carrying a loaded firearm by a prohibited person (PC 25850(a)). At a bench trial, after the jury rendered its verdict, the court found true several aggravating factors, including a previous state prison sentence, and that these offenses were committed while Mr. Jackson was on supervision for a prior criminal conviction.

“I would like to thank the jury for their service on this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “Getting guns out of the hands of those who should not have them is critical to keeping our city safe.”

According to the testimony and evidence presented at trial, on December 9, 2025, San Francsico Police officers received a FLOCK notification that a wanted vehicle was in the area of Eighth Street and Harrison Street. Central District officers worked with officers from the Real Time Intelligence Center (RTIC) who provided additional information regarding the vehicle’s location. Working together, police tracked the wanted vehicle to Ninth Street and Minna Street, a few blocks from where the automated license plate reader cameras first photographed the vehicle. Police approached the vehicle and observed Mr. Jackson in the driver’s seat of the wanted car. He was ordered out of the vehicle and upon looking into the car, police officers saw a firearm on the driver’s seat floorboard. The firearm was identified as Glock semi-automatic .40mm firearm with a drum magazine attached. The firearm was loaded with 40 rounds of ammunition.

The case against Mr. Jackson was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Pearl Tan with assistance from paralegals Josh Nickchen and Hang Ngo. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case against Mr. Jackson based upon the San Francisco Police Department’s thorough investigation and assistance.

“I would like to thank the jury for their thoughtful consideration of the evidence and holding Mr. Jackson accountable,” said Assistant District Attorney Pearl Tan.

Mr. Jackson is currently in custody. Sentencing is scheduled for May 22, 2026.
