San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Jason Johnson (54), after a trial by jury for smashing a parked car with an A-Frame. Mr. Johnson was convicted of vandalism (PC 594(b)(1)).

“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “Situations like this are scary and completely unacceptable. The jury’s verdict holds Mr. Johnson accountable and sends a message that San Franciscans take these cases seriously and will not tolerate this conduct on our streets.”

According to evidence and other testimony presented at trial, on January 7, 2026, Mr. Johnson approached the victim’s parked car near North Point and Van Ness Avenue, while the victim was in the car. The victim exited his vehicle while waiting for co-workers and tried to maintain a safe distance from Mr. Johnson who had picked up an A-Frame road barricade and was walking toward the victim’s vehicle. Mr. Johnson then struck the victim’s car several times with the A-Frame, breaking the rear passenger side window and denting the door.

The case against Mr. Johnson was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Shauna Kashyap, with assistance from paralegal Raquel Paz Aleman and IT support from Leland Chan and Morris Moore. Prosecutors were able to develop this case based on the San Francisco Police Department’s Central Station’s thorough investigation.
