San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Edwin Mauricio Fiallos (24), after a trial by jury for drug trafficking in the Tenderloin and SOMA. Mr. Fiallos was convicted of two counts of possession for sale of fentanyl (H&S 11351), one count of possession for sale of cocaine base (H&S 11351.5), one count of possession for sale of methamphetamine (H&S 11378) and one count of violating a stay-away order issued in another felony narcotics case (PC 166(a)(4)). These convictions resolve two drug trafficking cases Mr. Fiallos was facing.
“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial, rendering a just verdict that rejected debunked claims of alleged human trafficking,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “This conviction holds Mr. Fiallos accountable for his role in the deadly drug trade that has taken far too many lives in our city while sowing violence and chaos in our neighborhoods. My office will continue to do everything we can to dismantle open-air drug markets and make sure that drug dealers are held accountable.”
According to testimony and other evidence presented at trial, on July 27, 2024, members of the SFPD Narcotics unit saw Mr. Fiallos engage in a hand-to-hand sale of narcotics on the seven hundred block of O’Farrell Street. He was arrested and officers recovered $406 in cash, 16.8 grams of cocaine base, 30 grams of fentanyl and 5.4 grams of methamphetamine. On January 20, 2026, while this case was pending, Mr. Fiallos was seen at Sixth Street and Stevenson Street in violation of a stay-away order imposed in a previous narcotics sales related case. The police searched Mr. Fiallos and found him in possession of 49.8 grams of fentanyl.
The defense claimed that the selling of narcotics was forced human trafficking and that the alleged human traffickers threatened Mr. Fiallos family and took nearly all of the money he earned. However, evidence at trial revealed that Mr. Fiallos was in discussions with family members about how to access money from various accounts to finance the construction of a house.
The case against Mr. Fiallos was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney John Robles, with assistance from District Attorney Investigators Laura Rangel and Jacklyn Collins, paralegals Joshua Nickchen and Jennifer Java, and the subpoena unit. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case thanks to the dedication of officers who thoroughly investigated this case from the San Francisco Police Department’s Narcotics team.
“We will not allow human trafficking laws to be exploited as a loophole to excuse the distribution of deadly narcotics and protect drug profits,” said Assistant District Attorney John Robles. “Individual accountability prevailed over a manufactured narrative, and anyone who chooses to traffic poison on our streets will face the full consequences in San Francisco.”
Mr. Fiallos is currently in custody pending sentencing. Sentencing is scheduled for June 12, 2026.
