San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Alejandra Gutierrez Fuentes (23), after a trial by jury for driving under the influence. Ms. Gutierrez Fuentes was convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol (VC 23152(a)) and having 0.08%or more, by weight, of alcohol in their blood while driving a vehicle (VC 23152(b)).

“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “Driving under the influence makes everyone on the road less safe. Although no one was harmed in this incident, it serves as a reminder of how serious this issue is. My office is committed to keeping our roadways safe and holding those who drive under the influence accountable.”

According to testimony and other evidence presented at trial, on March 4, 2026, Ms. Gutierrez Fuentes was stopped by CHP on northbound I-280 after allegedly traveling approximately 85 miles per hour and making an unsafe lane change around a U-Haul truck. Following the traffic stop, CHP conducted a DUI investigation. Testing conducted approximately 45 minutes after Ms. Gutierrez Fuentes showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.14%.

The case against Ms. Gutierrez Fuentes was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney James Robbins with assistance from paralegals Raquel Paz, Nohemi Torres, and Adrianna Loomis, and IT support from Leland Chan. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case against Ms. Fuentes based on the California Highway Patrol’s thorough investigation and assistance.

“I’d like to thank the jury for taking their duty seriously and delivering a verdict that reflects the facts,” said Assistant District Attorney James Robbins. “This case is a testament to the hard work of our law enforcement partners in the CHP, who recognized impairment quickly and took a dangerous driver off a busy freeway.”

The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office takes all driving under the influence cases seriously and seeks to hold offenders accountable in all cases. For DUI felony cases, the office established a Felony DUI Vertical Prosecution Unit with a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
