San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured the conviction of Marquez Harrison (32) and LaCarla Carr (44) after a trial by jury for homicide and several other charges.

Mr. Harrison and Ms. Carr were both convicted of first-degree murder (PC 187(a)). Mr. Harrison was additionally convicted of personally discharging a firearm causing death (PC 12022.53(d)) and being a felon in possession of a firearm (PC 29800(a)(1)). Ms. Carr was additionally convicted of permitting a loaded firearm in a vehicle (PC 26100(a)) and being an accessory after the fact (PC 32).

“The jury’s verdict delivers justice to the victim’s family and friends who continue to grieve and are still deeply impacted by this horrible murder,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “After nearly twelve years, this conviction demonstrates my office’s unwavering commitment to getting justice for victims and holding offenders accountable.”
According to testimony and evidence presented at trial, on November 27th, 2014, Mr. Harrison and Ms. Carr drove through the Potrero Hill Housing Development in a stolen vehicle looking for victim Da’Ron Raynaldo. When they saw Mr. Raynaldo walking outside his home, Ms. Carr immediately drove in the direction of Mr. Raynaldo and stopped the vehicle when she pulled up in front of his residence. Mr. Harrison then exited the vehicle and shot at Mr. Raynaldo nine times as Mr. Raynaldo ran back towards his home. Two rounds struck the victim in the back.

The case against Mr. Harrison and Ms. Carr was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ryan J. King with assistance from paralegal Jessica Diamond, and District Attorney Investigators Rich Vass, Gino Guerrero, and Molly Braun. Special thanks to Victim Advocates Ruben Marquez and Lilly Bueno who worked closely with the victim’s family throughout the pendency of this case. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case against Mr. Harrison and Ms. Carr based on the San Francisco Police Department’s thorough investigation and assistance.
