San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of John Stoller (41) for felony firearm offenses after San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) officers arrested him in the early morning hours of February 14, 2025.
Mr. Stoller was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm (PC 29800(a)(1)) and carrying a concealed firearm (PC 25400(a)(2)).
“This guilty verdict demonstrates that individuals introducing unlawful weapons into our city face accountability,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “My office remains committed to collaborating with our law enforcement partners to remove illegal firearms from the community, safeguard our neighborhoods, and preserve the safety of all residents. Safeguarding the public is our foremost focus, and we will prosecute those who endanger it.”
According to the evidence presented in the case, on February 14, 2025, at approximately 2:51 a.m., SFPD officers observed Mr. Stoller seated in the driver’s seat of a parked Ford van in San Francisco. When officers approached, Mr. Stoller immediately exited the van and fled on foot. Officers pursued and apprehended him, subsequently locating and seizing an unloaded semiautomatic pistol from Mr. Stoller’s backpack.
The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Patrick Mahoney. The prosecution was supported by the work of the SFPD.
“I want to acknowledge the quick actions of SFPD officers in apprehending Mr. Stoller,” said Assistant District Attorney Mahoney. “With this conviction, we were able to get another unregistered firearm off of our streets.”
Sentencing is scheduled for November 19, 2026, in Department 29.
