San Francisco, CA – Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that her office secured the conviction of Daniel Schuhmacher (37) after a trial by jury for driving under the influence (PC 23152(a)).

“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “This case and verdict should serve as a reminder that driving under the influence won’t be tolerated in this city. My office is committed to keeping our roadways safe and will do everything we can to hold offenders accountable.”

According to testimony and evidence presented at trial, On May 8, 2025, at approximately 9:00 AM, San Francisco Police received a 911 call reporting a drunk driver on the US-101 southbound, north of Paul Avenue. A few minutes later, a California Highway Patrol officer arrived at the scene where the 911 caller shouted out their window stating that there was a drunk driver behind them. Upon moving Mr. Schuhmacher to a safe location off the highway at Beatty Avenue and Alana Way, CHP Officers conducted a driving under the influence (DUI) investigation, and ultimately arrested Mr. Schuhmacher for driving under the influence.

The case against Mr. Schuhmacher was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Patrick McKuin with assistance from paralegals Raquel Paz, Nohemi Torres, and Adrianna Loomis, District Attorney Investigators Ted Martin, and Perla Ortiz, and IT support from Leland Chan. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case against Mr. Schuhmacher based on the California Highway Patrol’s thorough investigation and assistance.

“I would like to thank the jury for their careful consideration of the facts and for rendering a verdict that holds Mr. Schumacher accountable for his reckless actions,” said Assistant District Attorney Patrick McKuin.

The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office takes all driving under the influence cases seriously and seeks to hold offenders accountable in all cases. For the most serious DUI felony cases, the office established a Felony DUI Vertical Prosecution Unit with a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
