San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Gabriel Sequeira-Garcia (27), after a trial by jury for drug trafficking in the Tenderloin. Mr. Sequeira-Garcia was convicted of possession for sale of cocaine and methamphetamine and for resisting arrest. These convictions resolve two drug trafficking cases Mr. Sequeira-Garcia was facing.
“Closing open-air drug markets and holding drug dealers accountable remains a top priority for me as well as city residents, workers and visitors who want to live in safe neighborhoods,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “We will not relent and will continue doing everything we can to bring drug dealers to justice. Now is the time to double down on our efforts and ensuring that we continue to stay one step ahead of the drug dealers and not allow us to back slide or lose any ground.”
According to testimony and other evidence presented at trial, on October 23, 2023, members of the Tenderloin Plainclothes unit interrupted a suspected narcotics sale by Mr. Sequeria-Garcia on the six hundred block of Ellis Street. Mr. Sequeira-Garcia attempted to flee but was caught by SFPD officers. While attempting to flee, Mr. Sequeria Garcia attempted to discard a bag of narcotics. After being arrested, he was found with 11.2 grams of cocaine base. Less than six months later, on March 1, 2024, members of the Tenderloin Plainclothes unit arrested Mr. Sequeria-Garcia on the 600 block of Ellis Street, again for drug dealing where he was also found to be in violation of a Court-mandated Stay Away Order stemming from an earlier narcotics arrest. Mr. Sequeira-Garcia attempted to flee and resist arrest again but was caught by SFPD officers again. He was found with 25.2 grams of Methamphetamine.
The case against Mr. Sequeira-Garcia was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Andre Guiulfo, with assistance from paralegal Rayna Bryan and IT support from Ada Yu. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case thanks to the dedication of officers who thoroughly investigated this case from the San Francisco Police Department’s Narcotics team and the San Francisco Police Department’s Tenderloin Station.
“I am deeply grateful to the jury for their service,” said Assistant District Attorney Andre Guiulfo. “The jury paid careful attention to the evidence, and their verdict sends a clear message: San Franciscans will no longer tolerate drug dealers seeking to profit from others’ addiction and despair. And, of course, thanks to the members of SFPD for keeping our community safe.”
Mr. Sequeira-Garcia is currently in custody pending sentencing. Sentencing is scheduled for February 9, 2026.
