San Francisco, CA – Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that Eddie Thomas (58), was charged in connection to a cold case murder in the Mission District in 2011. He is scheduled to be arraigned on November 25, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 19 at the Hall of Justice. Mr. Thomas is currently in custody. The District Attorney’s Office will move to have him detained pending trial without bail due to the public safety risk he poses.
Mr. Thomas is charged with murder with a special circumstance of torture murder and elder abuse with multiple allegations including an allegation of great bodily injury on a victim who was 70 or older.
According to court records, on May 12, 2011, San Francisco Police responded to a residence on the 2900 block of Folsom Street regarding a well-being check and found the victim dead in his apartment. Investigators also found the alleged DNA of Mr. Thomas throughout the crime scene and on the victim.
Although charges have been filed, and this case is being handled by the San Francisco District Attorney’s Homicide Unit, this remains an active investigation.
