Mr. Perez-Villanueva was arraigned on January 30, 2026, and pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied the allegations. Mr. Perez-Villanueva is charged with one count of murder, with an allegation that he personally used firearm in the commission of the murder.

The District Attorney’s Office moved to have Mr. Perez-Villanueva detained pending trial without bail due to the public safety risk he poses. The court set no bail, and he remains in custody. His next court date is February 11, 2026, for the preliminary hearing in this case.
