MAN CONVICTED OF ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON AGAINST ELDERLY RELATIVE AND SENTENCED TO TWO YEARS

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a felony conviction of Feng Lin (48), after a trial by jury, following an incident where he attacked his elderly father, in their shared home. Mr. Lin was convicted of felonious assault with a deadly weapon by knife (PC 245(a)(1)) and was sentenced to two years in state prison two weeks after the trial.

“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “Although nothing can undo the trauma this family has endured, I hope that this verdict brings them some comfort as they work to heal.”

According to testimony, and other evidence presented at trial, on March 21, 2024, Feng Lin attacked his elderly father with two kitchen knives inside their San Francisco home. The victim suffered multiple stab and slash wounds, significant blood loss, and required emergency medical treatment and hospitalization.

The case against Mr. Lin was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jordyn Sequeira, with invaluable assistance from paralegal Aareona Miles, District Attorney Investigator Dana Lee, and IT support from Noaeh Pinaire. Victim advocate Wesley Chu worked closely with the victim throughout the pendency of this case. Mr. Lin was sentenced in the weeks following the trial to a term of two years in state prison.

“The victim and his family have been through an incredibly difficult and lengthy process.” Said Assistant District Attorney Jordyn Sequiera. “I am grateful for their patience, courage, and trust throughout this case, and I hope this verdict and sentence provides them with some measure of closure.”
