The District Attorney’s Office develops and implements data-driven policies and practices that promote justice, protect crime survivors, and that address the root causes of crime. The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office also strives to create policies that promote racial justice; end the criminalization of poverty; and combat mass incarceration by relying on incarceration as a last—and not first—resort.
Many of these policies involve innovative approaches designed to remedy systemic problems. The Office gathers and relies upon data-backed evidence in making policy decisions.
