San Francisco, CA – Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that Richard Jue (65), Chief of Staff for the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office, was charged with misdemeanor hit and run in violation of Vehicle Code Section 20002(a), and misdemeanor filing a false police report in violation of Penal Code Section 148.5. Mr. Jue is scheduled to be arraigned on June 26, 2025, at 9:00 am in Department 17 at the Hall of Justice.
According to court records, Mr. Jue, while off duty but driving a Sheriff’s vehicle, allegedly left the scene of an accident , when he drove the Sheriff’s vehicle into a Tesla parked on southbound Diamond Heights Boulevard near Duncan Street, on March 4, 2025, causing serious damage to both vehicles. Mr. Jue allegedly waited two weeks to formally report the accident. When he reported it, he claimed that he had been the victim of an unknown hit-and-run in a parking lot. The next day, he allegedly made another report, apologizing and stating he in fact had caused the accident and left the scene without leaving a note. The victim’s Tesla was later deemed a total loss.
Mr. Jue is currently out of custody. The court set bail in the amount of $7,500 pre-arraignment, which he posted and was subsequently released on June 22, 2025.
