District Attorney Brooke Jenkins Announces Charges Against Suspect for Invasion of Privacy and Suspicious Acts Towards Females

San Francisco, CA — Today, District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that Andrew Hong (31) has been charged with six separate counts of misdemeanor invasion of privacy (PC 647(j)1)) in connection with reports that customers of Divisadero Heights Cleaners, were being secretly recorded inside a dressing room located at 1179-1189 Divisadero Street on the 1100 block of Divisadero Street.

“I would like to thank all of the women who came forward and shared their stories with investigators,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “Your courage will inspire others to come forward as we work to ensure that we have uncovered the full extent of Mr. Hong’s alleged illegal recordings. We will do everything in our power to deliver justice for all of his victims.”

The investigation has revealed that a total of six victims have filed separate police reports documenting similar incidents in which the male employee placed a clock inside the fitting room and frequently adjusted it throughout the customers’ fittings raising suspicions about the use of the clock. In each report, the victims expressed concern that the employee was requesting that they undress for their clothes to be altered while unknowingly being recorded.

On Saturday, March 25, 2023, the San Francisco Police Department Special Victims Unit (SVU) obtained a search warrant which was served for Hong’s personal residence and the related business. SFPD arrested Hong for six misdemeanor counts of invasion of privacy (647(j)(1) PC).

If he is convicted of all charges, and sentenced to serve the maximum sentence in each count consecutively, he faces up to three years in county jail. The court released him on his own recognizance and granted criminal protective orders for all named victims in this case. Mr. Hong is also subject to warrantless search and seizure.
