Investigators found the remains of a deceased woman and evidence of illegal narcotics manufacturing in the rubble
San Francisco, CA – Today,San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that Darron Price (53) has been charged with multiple felonies in connection to an explosion in the Outer Sunset neighborhood. Price is charged with involuntary manslaughter, manufacturing a controlled substance, four counts of reckless burning, two counts of child endangerment, and one count of elder abuse. Additionally, the criminal complaint includes allegations that Price proximately caused great bodily injury to one of the victims.
“As the Outer Sunset neighborhood works to rebuild following last week’s sudden explosion, we will join their efforts by standing with the victims and the community in seeking justice,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “We must send a clear message that the manufacture of dangerous drugs will not be tolerated in San Francisco; this activity is not only dangerous for the individuals involved but entire neighborhoods as this case so tragically demonstrates.”
Darron Price was arrested on February 10, 2023, following a joint San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) and San Francisco Fire Department Arson Task Force investigation, with assistance from SFPD Narcotics. Investigators recovered suspected butane tanks, ovens, and other materials consistent with processing hash oil with volatile solvents. Investigators also tested a jar of suspected hash oil and found it contained acetone and other dangerous and highly flammable solvents. As investigators sifted through the rubble, they also discovered a deceased adult female in the remnants of the burned home.
Price has been in custody since his arrest on February 10, 2023. Prosecutors sought pre-trial detention in this case because of the public safety risk posed. If convicted of all charges, he faces more than 13 years in state prison. Arraignment is scheduled for today, February 15, 2023, at 1:30PM.
Although, charges have been filed, this remains an active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the San Francisco Police Department Tip Line at 1-415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the text message with SFPD. You may remain anonymous.
