HONOLULU MAN CHARGED WITH VEHICULAR MANSLAUGHTER IN CONNECTION TO FATAL COLLISION IN SOMA

San Francisco, CA – Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that Jia Lin Zheng (67) of Honolulu, Hawaii, has been charged in connection to a fatal vehicle collision in SOMA on January 19, 2025. He was arraigned on September 23, 2025, and pleaded not guilty to all charges. He is charged with felony vehicular manslaughter (PC 192(a)(1)), reckless driving (VC 23103(a)), and three counts of hit and run driving (VC 20002(a)).

According to San Francisco Police, on Sunday, January 19th, at approximately 6:08 p.m., officers responded to Sixth and Harrison streets regarding a vehicle collision. Officers arrived on scene and located at least six vehicles that were struck by another vehicle. Officers located multiple victims who were inside their vehicles. Several victims were transported to the hospital for injuries sustained in the collision. One of the occupants of a victim vehicle was declared deceased at the scene. A dog was also declared deceased in the vehicle.

At arraignment Mr. Zheng was released on his own recognizance by the court and ordered not to drive and to surrender his driver’s license. His next court date is November 7, 2025, for a prehearing conference.
