JURY CONVICTS MAN FOR DRUG DEALING IN THE TENDERLOIN

San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Stuardo Cruz Cruz (28), after a trial by jury for drug dealing in the Tenderloin. Mr. Cruz Cruz was convicted of possession for sale or purchase of fentanyl (H&S 11351), and methamphetamine (H&S 11378). Additionally, the jury found the allegation that Mr. Cruz Cruz was on probation when the crime was committed (4.421(b)(4)) was proven to be true.

“I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “My office will continue to do everything we can to ensure that drug dealers are held accountable and face consequences. Unrepentant drug dealers, who continue to sell drugs while on probation mock the criminal justice system and add insult to the harm that they are inflicting on our neighborhoods.”

According to testimony and other evidence presented at trial, on December 17, 2024, undercover officers patrolling the 700 block of O’Farrell Street observed Mr. Cruz Cruz acting hypervigilant while crouching down on the sidewalk behind parked cars. Officers observed an unidentified adult male with a backpack approach Mr. Cruz Cruz and provide him with U.S. currency in exchange for a narcotic. In response, officers approached Mr. Cruz Cruz. While officers attempted to detain him, Mr. Cruz Cruz ran and was eventually arrested. Police recovered 3.3 grams of fentanyl, 9.5 grams of methamphetamine, 99 bags of prepackaged narcotics, and $66.00 in U.S. currency from Mr. Cruz Cruz.

The case against Mr. Cruz Cruz was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Paul Samra, with assistance from District Attorney Investigator Scott Wong and paralegals Andres Hernandez-Ruano and Josh Ng. Prosecutors were able to put on a strong case thanks to the dedication of officers and staff from the San Francisco Police Department’s Narcotics team and the San Francisco Police Department Tenderloin Station.

“I would like to thank the jury for carefully considering the evidence in this case,” said Assistant District Attorney Paul Samra. “This conviction underscores a commitment to rooting out those who endanger lives for profit via sale of fentanyl.”

Mr. Cruz Cruz is currently out of custody pending sentencing. Sentencing is scheduled for August 12, 2025.
