JURY CONVICTS MAN OF ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON IN SOMA STABBING INCIDENT

San Francisco, CA – San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced today that her office secured a conviction of Carlos Gordon (54), after a trial by jury for a stabbing incident in the SOMA district. Mr. Gordon was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon (PC 245(a)(1)) and the jury found true that Mr. Gordon suffered numerous prior convictions and was on probation at the time of the offense.

“I would like to thank the jury for their service on this trial,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “There is no place for senseless violence in our community and my office will continue to do everything we can to protect public safety and fight for justice in the courtroom.”

According to the testimony and evidence presented at trial, on the afternoon of August 18, 2023, the victim was lying on the north sidewalk of Langton Street, when he was assaulted by Mr. Gordon. During the assault, Mr. Gordon withdrew a knife from his waistband and after kicking the victim’s face, proceeded to bend over and stab the victim in the back of his neck near the base of his head. Following the attack, the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The case against Mr. Gordon was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Joseph La Herran with assistance from paralegals Sara Wong and Jen Java. Victim Advocates Jodee Brown and Megan Cheng supported the family through the pendency of this case. Prosecutors were able to develop a strong case against Mr. Gordon based on San Francisco Police Department Officer’s thorough investigation and assistance.

“This case stands for a simple principle; everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect,” said Assistant District Attorney Joseph La Herran. “I am grateful for the jury holding Mr. Gordon accountable for his actions and giving the victim the dignity and respect he was not shown on August 18, 2023.”

Mr. Gordon is currently in custody. His next court date is September 15, 2025.
