MAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION TO RICHMOND DISTRICT HIT AND RUN WITH MULTIPLE SERIOUS INJURIES

San Francisco, CA – Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that Jonathan Lam (35), has been charged in connection to a hit and run incident in the Richmond District. Mr. Lam was arraigned on June 5, 2025, and pleaded not guilty and denied the allegations. He is charged with one count of leaving the scene of an accident (VC 20001(a)), with an allegation that the collision resulted in serious injury to the victim (VC 20001(b)(2)).

According to court documents, on May 24, 2025, at 6:14 PM, the victim, a five-year old, was riding her bike in the crosswalk with her mother a few steps behind her at 31st Avenue and Clement Street when Mr. Lam allegedly turned left onto 31st Avenue running over the victim. Mr. Lam was allegedly driving a rental Jeep Wagoneer SUV at the time of the incident. After the incident, Mr. Lam allegedly fled and did not stop or render aid or provide his information to the victim’s mother. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition with multiple serious injuries. On June 1, 2025, Mr. Lam was arrested by San Francisco Police.

Mr. Lam is currently out of custody. The court set bail in the amount of $100,000 pre-arraignment, which he posted and was subsequently released on June 2, 2025.
