San Francisco, CA – Today, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced that Marshawn Peters (26), has been charged in connection to a shooting in the Western Addition on November 29, 2024. Mr. Peters is scheduled to be arraigned today, December 5, 2024, at 9:00 AM in Department 10 at the Hall of Justice. He is charged with one count of attempted murder (PC 664/187(a)) with an allegation that he personally and intentionally discharged a firearm (PC 1202.53(d)), and an allegation that he personally inflicted great bodily injury on a victim (PC 12022.7(a)). He is also charged with four counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm (PC 245(b)), one count of child endangerment (PC 273(a)), one count of carrying a loaded firearm that he was not the registered owner of (PC 25850(a)) and one count of carrying a concealed firearm that he is not the registered owner of (PC 25400(a)(2)). Prosecutors moved to have Mr. Peters detained pending trial because of (the public safety risk he poses.
“This horrific incident is why we take our work to address illegal gun possession and domestic violence so seriously,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “My office will do everything in our power to fight for justice in the courtroom on behalf of the victims, who were trying to intervene to de-escalate a volatile situation, and all those who have been impacted by this dreadful incident that sadly occurred the day after Thanksgiving.”
According to court documents, on November 29, 2024, at approximately 1:00 PM Mr. Peters arrived at a residence on the 1200 block of Pierce Street with his girlfriend and her 10-year-old daughter. The daughter saw Mr. Peters and her mother allegedly fighting in the car and called her grandmother, who was inside the residence. The grandmother came out and tried to de-escalate the argument. Hearing the commotion outside, her fiancé and his son exited the residence and approached Mr. Peters who was allegedly pushing his girlfriend. Mr. Peters allegedly then removed a black semi-automatic pistol from his waistband, cocked it, and pointed the pistol in the direction of the two men and the 10-year-old-daughter. All three then ran back to the residence when one of the men was shot in the leg, near his pelvis. Allegedly, Mr. Peters stood over the victim and pointed his firearm at everyone in the area before returning to his vehicle and departing the area on foot. Mr. Peters was arrested the next day in San Leandro without incident.
