“I am grateful there was no loss of life or serious injury in this shocking shooting,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “Public transit plays a vital role in our city and must be safe for everyone, including drivers and passengers. My office will do everything in our power to ensure that there is justice in this case.”
According to court documents, on January 13, 2025, at approximately 6:00 AM a Muni Bus approached the intersection of Fourth and Berry Street where Mr. Greene was allegedly walking in the middle of the street. The bus stopped at a red light as Mr. Greene allegedly walked in the street outside of the crosswalk. When the light turned green, Mr. Greene was allegedly still walking in the street. As the bus drove forward, Mr. Greene allegedly stopped in front of the bus and walked towards the bus as the driver tried to steer around him. Allegedly, Mr. Green then took out a revolver from his jacket and fired one shot at the bus, which went through the windshield and a passenger seat then walked away. There were 15-20 passengers on the bus at the time of the shooting.
San Francisco Police Officers located Mr. Greene nearby and took him into custody without incident. SFPD Marine Unit officers recovered the revolver from the water in Mission Creek Channel.
Prosecutors moved to have Mr. Greene detained pending trial because of the public safety risk he poses. The court granted the motion to detain without prejudice and set no bail. Mr. Greene remains in custody. His next court date is January 21, 2025, for the preliminary hearing in this matter.
Although charges have been filed, this remains an active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
